Halloween and the Dentist

Halloween ended up being very busy but fun. C loves Halloween and the two of us did a lot of walking. After I forbidding work we went to a local shopping district which has trick or treating for two hours. The two of us walked around  for an hour. A is still pretty young so I left him back at Grandma's. After that we headed back to Grandma's. C showed me his jello worm brain that he helped grandma make.

We next went  around the neighborhood. A came  with us for this outing. I was amazed at how much candy people were giving A! I mainly brought the bag because  big brother insisted an  Yeah he got a lot more candy then I would have ever had imagined!

We had a good weekend though C decided to spend it pushing all of my buttons! There are times when this kid simply will not listen to me very frustrating. He spent a lot of time in time out. I was worried with how he was this.weekend because today he had a dentist appointment and has never been good with it! Well it is still one thing I need to learn is to never predict how he is going to be because he was awesome finally! In the past he would only ever let them count  his teeth. This time? He let them take x-rays, clean his teeth, floss an  even brush fluoride on them. So nice to see him cooperating!!!

And A? He is doing well he goes in Monday for a week a weight check. He is also going to be getting the very expensive shots again this internal once again I know where our tax return is going again. Maybe 2015 we will have less in medical bills and will finally be able to use the money for him  improvements? Will see.

Boo at the zoo

We took the  boys today to the zoo today for the boo at the zoo.  They have trick or treating for all of the kids. C had a lot of fun. We got there really earl so that we could get there before it was to crowded. We have a yearly pass that with it gets us in an hour early. Soothing  to because when we left it was super  crowded!  C loved dressing  up as Harry Potter and really liked that A was his owl.

Boys being boys

My two boys have been playing together the past little while but only to a point. Well to fight was the first time I have seen them play a little rougher an  it wasn't Connor doing it! He was laying on the ground while little A was trying to tickle him and kept.landing on top of him laughing hard was so nice seeing my boys so happy playing together!

Also are kitties are getting along really well all they have done is play together. I know my kitty needed a friend and I am glad it took so little time for them to accept each other :).

Latest cardiology appointment

A saw cardiology yesterday. It was the easiest and fastest appointment so far! They only checked his weight ( he is up to19 pounds 4 ounces) an  his blood pressure. They listened to his heart and basically said is that he looks great and they will check him in five months with an echo. Was told to treat him like a normal kid with  no restrictions. He has gained two pounds since the procedure amazing!

He is not sleeping well right mow because at our teeth are coming in the bottom an  two on top. So he is not a happy camper! I am amazed at how much things have changed since  his heart patch. His teeth before the Cath took forever to come in now? Oh man the ones that were slowly coming in are now fully in and like I said he needed any on the bottom and they are making up for lost time.

His belly button which was an inny with his no  pushy tummy  is poking out! Also before if I put my ear to his chest after each beat I could hear blood gushing, his heart murmur. Now? All I hear is his heart pounding its music to my ears.

If the appointment goes will in five months the next one will be a year and after that if it goes well? 3-5 years! More music to my ears :).

A Broken Heart Healed

When we were given the news that there was something wrong with my unborn child's heart my world shattered. As someone described it at work I became mad at the world and he told me there is nothing wrong with that. He had been there himself when he was fighting cancer. Yesterday he stopped me and asked me how my little guy was doing, because he could tell I had changed. Changed in the same way that being told he was now cancer free had done to him. And yes I do feel better, lighter. Dare I say happy?

I am amazed and in awe with this little boy. His broken heart had been affecting him so much more then I could  have  imagine!  I of course knew about his growing restraint but there is so much more! He is more active, did not think he coil done more active but he is!
His vocabulary has increased instead of saying daddy he says daddy an  tries to repeat what we say. The other  night kept saying no and his name an  He started running from me laughing an  saying his name over and over again! He had never said his man  before! We call for Jo's brother to come here he yells for him to. All new in just the last week. Wow just wow. It is fin seeing what he is doing mow! Can't wait until my boys can play a bit tougher together where there don't the worry about a A being so little. Big brother want  it to! His accomplishments have fixed this mommy's broken heart. Keep falling more and more in love with these boys of mine.

so much better!

A is doing so much better! He is no longer throwing up and he is eating a lot! He has a nice full tummy mow and he feels heavier and bulkier! Right now he does not feel delicate like he  usually does. He also  is sayin  more things. Was calling his name an  He started saying it. When we call his older he starts calling out as well. He also is more active which I honestly did not think he could b  more active!  Now if we can just avoid some colds for a while he will hopefully start catching up.

Glad we decided to start boogie is boy next year with school because this has been hard on him he was so upset when A was in the hospital and when I came to take him to the ER he told me to get him to a doctor now. Also so any germs at school would have been bad for A. Now he will have time to grow bigger then he can have more colds!!!

Rough day

A got worse as the day went on. I left work early and took him up to PCMC's ER. He was pal is eyes were sunken in an  He really did no  look right. He is really really skinny scary skinny. When we hot there they sis decide to pitching on an IV since he is a heart kid they sis it slowly, have him a different med to help with his tummy. He drank eight ounces of Apple juice an  it has not come back up! We are home now glad we did not have to say people in scrubs really upset him. He unfortunately has lost weight. He has dropped from 17 pounds 9 ounces to 16 pounds 4 ounces. Why why can't he get away from the 16 pounds area??????

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

He is being put back onto zantac for reflux. Hoping that solves it. If not we will be calling cardiology again and going from there.
Since we got home A has been throwing up on and off. Well since last night everything has been coming up. I have  called cardiology just waiting for them to call me back. Message  said may not be until after nine, it's eight right now.

Sunday, September 15, 2013

We will fin  outlet on how A is doing at his next appointments. He sees his pediatrician on October second ans then sees cardiology on October eleventh including an echo. Before surgery he weighed 17 pounds 9 ounces. I know he has not gained much as of yet he had to many tomes throw in  up. He has finally stopped doing that. He is now acting normal. And has started doing something normal for kids his age temper tantrums! He has has some BIG ones. Holly Molly yay for some normal kid stuff. Is it bas that I think he look  cute when he has one?  I love that he is soon  something normal for his age makes me super happy LOL.  So yes I am happy for his tantrums.

The Details

I figured I should writer a more detailed post of what went on this week not only for my readers but for myself as well. I want to tell Aiden about all of this later and wan  to write it while it is still relatively fresh in my mind.

On Monday night I dropped Connor off of at Grandma's since we needed to get to the hoe early the next day. My big guys nerves were on edge ans he ended up throwing up. This was definitely rough on him! He continued to complain about being sick until we all got home. He's fine now!

After dropping him off we went to bed early since we needed to be up at four. A had different plans he decided to ask  up at one wanting a bottle at that point he coil  only have clear liquids ans when I have them to him he was mad. Daddy ended up sitting with him the remainder of the night while I tried to sleep. Needless to say we did not get much sleep. I got the most so drove to the hospital that morning. Took an hour and half to get through pre  open. A was overall calm the whole time. We did have some surprised nurses when they learned he was set up for both a Cath and possibly surgery after. Apparently that's not normal.

Now the main reason they were unsure if a Cath would work is because he is such a little guy and the hole is really big. Dr Grey felt there was a good chance to fix the hole and wan to try. He was taken back at 7:45 for the Cath. He was very calm the whole time and did not cry when I handed him over to the nurse. His calmness helped this mom a lot! We were given a beeper and after eating headed up to the waiting room. The Cath was actually pretty fast the beeps went off just before ten.

Discharged

We are home!!! Do you believe it? Because I don't! Feel like I was on  rollercoaster that alphas a huge build up an  then tiny drop at the end. He is already acting normal. He is eating without any problems now the anesthesia is out of his system. His echo and EKG looks good we will be back in four weeks. Now we get to see if he grow from the sound of things he should. The hole was really big an  a lot of blood was flowing the wrong way. So a lot of his calories was  being used for that though it did not slow him down at all! I wan  to say thanks to Doctor Grey for believing he could fix hos heart via a Cath and then proving he could an  big thank you to everyone  who has been showing love an  support for us it has helped us a lot.

Tuesday, September 10, 2013

He had a chest x-Ray and looks good so far the device just his time  looks backed up hence the throwing up.

Update

Been a little rough Aiden does not like anesthesia and is scared he has been throwing up on and off. First six hours had yo keep his leg straight they used a vein in his leg to get to his heart. They will do. An echo and EKG in the morning of everything looks good we can go home. They need to make sure that the device does not move. Also they said the hole was big ans a lot of blood was flowing  the wrong way. Hence why he wasn't growing! He should hopefully grow better now. They also ballooned his aorta it was starting to narrow an  They decided to take care of that now. Instead of going back next year.

no OHS!

The Cath worked so no surgery for my buddy! They were able to patch the hole and they also ballooned his aorta because it showed  some narrowing. He is in recovery  and will stay at the hospital over night. And should be released some time tomorrow. There was  son  tearing with the ballooning of the aorta but they said it's normal and no  overall a problem.

He will have an echo and EKG in  the morning.

He was taken back at 7:45 for his Cath we will not het update  for a few hours. Let the waiting begin.

Monday, September 9, 2013

We check in at 6am tomorrow for Aiden's surgery. I will update when I can.

Candle in the dark

I feel so much lighter today with just the fact my little guy may not have open heart surgery. I do  not realize how much it has been weighinghing me down until after that phone call. Yes I do know he may still an  up having surgery but before it was th  only thing they could do. Now? Now there is a chance he does not and that make  me happy just the chance of not needing it that a Cath can fix his heart. Yes it did bother me that they were nit going yo do a Cath so them calling and changing the plans yay!

We got up early this Mormon  because hubby was going to go to comic con with my brother  an  I was going to go to Hallmark with my mom while  grandpa watched the boys. It was nice getting out for a bit without the boys. It's been a while. We ended up getting there to early. They were no  opened yet so ended up at Target. We ended up buying two Halloween shirts for my oldest because he loves Halloween a lot! Also got something for A on clearance. They do not have any Halloween stuff foe his age big bummer there.

BANANA
This kid can and will wear them year round. Also stopped at the dollar section because they have some good deals. Bought some tape, wrapping paper and a shark book for Connor. Also bought some M&Ms to try a new flavor pumpkin spice there not bad little strange but not bad I prefer the mint ones.

By then Hallmark was open and went and bought the ornament I have been waiting for. Special edition of the mischievous kitty's set. Also ended up buying  Now for Connor because yeah can not resist.

Lastly we stopped at Yankee candles cause my mom had a coupon. I ended up buying a candle as a joke for my husband. He is Hawaiian an  hate  how they lab something as Hawaiian by just adding pineapple to it, ticks him off. He also hates cilantro calls it a weed goes of if he says anything that has it in it so this candle just cracked m  up!

It was so worth two dollars!

Cath lab here we come

Cardiology called and there has been a change in plans for Tuesday.  They had a care conference and  they believe that they can fix the hole  in his heart via a heart catheterization. For information  the procedure go here. If this work them no OHS an  a much faster discovery. Usually  only stay over night instead of 3-4 days. Healing  is much faster! No breaking his ruins, opening him up stopping  his heart of bypass!

He will be the first case of the day because I  it does not work he will go from there to surgery and things will proceed as originally planned.   I am hoping the Cath works but I admit they scare me a little but they are so much less evasive that it would be easier on him ans on all of us. We will fond out Tuesday I will update on that day.

Dream

I had a rather strange dream last night. Okay the majority of my dreams are bizarre I might start writing about them more often just because of how unique they are. This on was not as weird as then others well I will write what my dream was and you can decide.

We were at the hospital but it was not the hospital we go to for A. It was in fact a building at the community college I went to. Part of that building contained a garage used to teach car repair. We were not in that area but in the front of the building which is very 80's construction. Old wood and dark brick. We were there because the little guy was admitted to the hospital the night before and he was going in for heart surgery. We were on edge my parents were with me. Connor was home with uncle. We were becoming on edge because we were not getting any information.

My mom headed up the stairs to demand what was going on! Minutes later mom came back down smiling in her hands was a hamster(looked like my favorite pet hamster I had growing up). She look at me and shows him to me. You could tell he has been opened up and sewed up. I was told that the surgery went well. I started freaking because she was holding him and he needed to recoup!

She left and I turned and tried to call work since I had not called to say I was not coming in. My phone was not working I finally got through and told them I needed time off to take care of my hamster who had his surgery a week early. Which I never finished saying because I realized how silly that sounded and was waiting for John Cleese to come in and wave his arms saying okay that's enough this has become to silly! I woke up at that point.

If it's not obvious next week is weighing heavily on my mind.

This better be isolated occurrence!!!!!!!

So we have been having Aiden avoid people as much as we can right now. So must say was not happy when he threw up all over me this morning! I mean really? Hoping it was because moments before he bumped his head and was crying. That better be the reason otherwise crap!!!!!!!!

Maybe he did it to get another bath! He loves baths and after the surgery can not have one for a while.

ETA: Finally let me add a photo A after his bath.

Dropping Connor off at grandma's house so he can go to my cousin's little boy's birthday party. It is to close to surgery date to go with Aiden so I am staying home an  hubby? Well he is stuck at work guess our customers decidded no three say weekend for him. Hope my bog boy has fun he is already asking why I can not come with him. Started to two him about Aiden's up an  coming surgery he only partially understood what was going on. He will get it with time I hope. Only thing he asked was if he broke brother's heart which I made sure to fully explain it was not his fault.

Cardiology

His cardiology appointment went well. They basically wanted to make sure he was well enough for surgery. They checked his weight ans height, he gained 6 ounces since last weight check. Then they did an EKG, saturation and four point blood pressure. He stayed very calm though it all. It helped the nurse blew bubbles while she did the tests so instead of focusing on them he was playing with bubbles. He shook his head no when she was putting the monitor on his toe to look at his saturation levels. They said he is healthy enough for surgery. The EKG does show that his right side of his heart is larger then the left. Which they said they do expect.
We go in the ninth doe preop they are going to make sure the surgeon also works on his rib cage which has some calcium build up. They will try to have it so it does not stick out much. The surgery itself will last suburban hour to two hours minimal amount of time on bypass. Prep will tale the longest. He should hopefully only be on the respirator until that night or next morning. If it all goes well he may be there for three to four days possibly longer. He will just need sometime to heal after.

Sunday, August 25, 2013

I do not realize how small A is until he is around other kids near his age. Goodness is he tiny! Just shows that he really does need this up and coming surgery. We go and see cardiology tomorrow do there will be a larger update either tomorrow or Tuesday. For now I will leave with two pictures first one try yo find the little boy who is hiding and the other more of brothers playing.

Sunday, August 18, 2013

Took Connor to get his hair cut today he did ok. He is not a fan of gettin  his hair cut and telling him he has to wait is extra hard about we manages. His heart is not as short as I wanted but with him you really do not push your luck.

We already have his Halloween costume for this year. Grandma made the cape and the rest of it has been bought we just need to buy a temporary tattoo of Harry Potter's lightning scar and will he ready to go. Planning on buying Aiden a owl costume so he can match Connor .

His chest

One of our kitties died on Thursday had a hard time explaining it to Connor. Took him a while to understand but late that night it did finally get through to him and he broke down . I held on to him until he finally fell asleep for the night. She was my husband's cat and had always been in Connor's life. She will be missed. Eventually we will be getting another cat but not for sometime.

I recently to a picture of A and it showed how his chest healed after his surgery.

Admitting it has bothered me and I do hope it heals better after his next surgery. No this does not cause him any pain an  he does not act like he even noticed it. So I  is more of a cosmetic issue but kids are cruel!  He doesn't need extra stuff to be made fun of. Mow his scar that is fine  I want him to be proud of that just like I said kids are mean.

RIP Princess

we have a walker

So A has been walking a little but with hesitation but as of Wednesday that stopped and he basically walked all say! Bumped his head twice because of said walking. I am hoping because he is filly walking now he will not regress with that due to his surgery.

Starting to figure out what needs to be done for said surgery. One thing us we can bring one of his toys or blankets but it needs to be labeled. Well can't handle being without his blanket. Since my mom has a embroidery machine. His name will be embroidered on one of his blankets. Hopefully that will sleep his blanket separate from the hospital ones.Really so not want it to be lost.

Really dreading the talk I will need to so with big brother won't be giving  him details yet. He deserves to have fun for his birthday before he learns the full details of what is going on. Genoa already acting stresses about stuff and  I know he is just feeding off all of us, he is a smart kkd he knows something is going on :(.

That's all for now for some reason I have been in the mood to post on here. Helps me cope.

Monday, August 12, 2013

Thank you.

I do not know how I would be handling all of what we have  been through and garbage are going to be going through next month without the help of others. My mom has been fondemental on all of this. Huns does not have a lot of vacation time because he ha  not been there long enough to have a larger amount of time of. So I have been doing all of the running with doctor appointments. The very important ones mom has been coming with me. These appointments can be very hard. I usually feel physically drained by the end if them . His last cardiology appointment was so hard! Without her I do not know how I would have done it. Because of this she is coming with me to his next appointment with his cardiologist on the 26. She also has no patience to wait at home for me to call.  Also she will be there for Aiden's preop the day before his surgery. Lastly big brother will be sleeping over with grandma and grandpa that night do we can do what we need that morning and head straight there. We will be giving him a bath that morning ans use antiseptic wipes to help combat infections.

I also want to say thank you to a few other my pediatrician who love my son and even for us a case of pediasure. Next the co-worker who also got us a car of pediasure and the anonymous friend who got us a third case. Thank you, thank you, thank you for caring about my son and helping him gain some weight before the operation. A my co-worker said it is a small thing that we can do to help in the stressful situations you guys are dealing with. It means a lot to us. I love my boys so much and seeing others care for them as well touches my heart.

Park

Grandma and grandpa took the boys to the park the either day while I was at work. They had fun :).

Toysrus.com

I am seriously done with buying online from toys r us! I tried to buy from the last year and had my order cancelled because it was sold out. Shouldn't the website be designed to know hoe many they had? I gave them one more chance and preordered Connor's birthday present. It was supposed to be shipped on August third. But seven days later and no update, still shown as a preorder I gave up on them and yup I am done. I did e-mail asking when I would get it and with no good answer yeah they lost my business for sure. I will still go to the store but no more online.

My boys and their rocket

I know I just posted today but I just had to share these pictures my two boys with there you rocket. Can not believe how big Connor is now!

1 month

Oh little boy I love you so much. You now shake your head no when you do not want something and wait for me to change your diaper so you can try and pee on me and laugh with delight. That mischievous smile you give me when you are about to something you shouldn't. Your eyes squint and your hands fly in theexcited to have mommy running over to get you. Your little wave when I come into the room and the hi you say as you wait for me to pick you up. I love you so much and in one months time I hope you understand that the pain you will be put through is to help make you better. I have nothing more then the want and need to see you grow. To continue to hear you call out my name when your angry or scared. I will be there to wipe away your tears to hold you when your scared. To clwp with you when I sing patty cake.

Mommy needs to find the strength within herself to hand you over in that months time to give you a kiss an  hug and know that you are in good hands. Part of me is dreading that moment with all of my heart. I do not want to see you in pain. Part of me will be in pain to. I know you do not like pain and I will do all that I can to help you in this journey of the heart.

I love you now and forever my little blue eyed boy.

Ugh A's surgery is one month from tomorrow and yeah just had a mini break down. I am not ready for it at all.

Pediasure

Yesterday we got a little surprise. While at work sitting at the computer a co-worker came up to me and set down a case of pediasure! So in two days we have been given 48 bottles. Can not say how much this helps us. With my car air conditioner broken, A still in an infant car seat that at some point we do need to replace. Figured he is still easily within the size range of the seat I will keep using it. I feel it is with his size safer seat for him to be in.

We now have a cardiology appointment set up for August 26th. The is will be his preoperative before his surgery in September.

Another Good Appointment

Took Aiden in for a weight check and he has regained the weight that was lost. He is back to 17 pounds 1 ounce. And he is back on the chart with height it's  only one percent but it's a percent!

You can also see how very hard it has been to get him to gain weight. These stomach bugs have been hell on him!

I must say we are so lucky to have his pediatrician he really does care about A. He told he wants to visit Aiden after his surgery when he is in the CICU. They also got me 24 pediasures that about thirty dollars worth. That helps us a lot.

Just a few pictures while I sit here and wait for a package that I need for work.

The good stuff

We are all feeling better! A is eating up a storm never seen him eat so much I am hopeful the weight he lost due to this stomach bug will be put back on on soon.  He goes back in at the beginning of August for another weight check we will see then on his well he is doing.  He has finally out grown his size 2 shoes and is now wearing size 3.

This is A drinking pediasure AFTER eating half a tin of cheese crunches, a third of a pancake and 10 yogurt melts!!! Seriously crazy appetite!  He has started saying hi to people and waving. Like to pretend to talk on my phone saying hi a lot and is starting to take some steps about five at a time without any help! He is also getting in one of his molars! Lastly with his surgery looming hubby and I have decided to start a quarantine of sorts. No going to places with lots of people until his heart is fixed. Colds are just yo hard on him right now.

Big brother is doing well also. He is turning five at the end of next month. Where did the time go? Few weeks ago he took cards that had the alphabet and put them order all by himself. He only had two letters switched and he figured out which ones were wrong by himself! Yay Connor. He is such a great big brother, he helps feed him and his likes to buckle him in his car seat (while mommy watches).

Was worried about one thing and thankfully it was an easier fix then we thought! My car's air conditioner stopped working in July of all months and we have been in the hundreds! Who ever had the kids got the car with air conditioning. I took it in this morning to get emissions and had the filter replaced at the same time. It was horribly clogged! Where we work next door is a place that makes fertilizer and it looks like their crap clogged the filter! But hey guess what worked when I got in the car? The air conditioning was an easy fix! :)

Well that's about all I can think if hope everyone is having a good summer even with the extreme heat.

Eye appointment

This is going yo be a short update because there isn't much to say which is a good thing! His eyes look better each time we go in the lazy eye is correcting itself so no intervention is needed, which could have meant surgery. He had a tight tendon connected to his eye slowing that eyes  movement but it's much better!

update

Little A goes in today to have his eyes checked hopefully the eye that was having problems is looking better. I think it us but I have been wrong before.

We all got hit with a stomach bug over the weekend A got it first then big brother. C got over it a lot faster then A which is normal for heart kids it's as o hard on them! Ended up taking him in yesterday to be checked because of how long it took him to get over it. Was worried about ear infections he does not have one but he did loose weight. He was 17 pounds but is now 16 pounds 3 ounces:(. Was not happy about that took him so long yo get out of the 16 pound range and this bug threw him back in it dang it! Just shows he needs yo have the hole in his heart repaired until then stuff like this will just be very hard on him.
